The meeting of the ruling party group of parliamentarians chaired by the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday afternoon has taken a heated turn.
This situation has arisen due to the discussion that took place between that group of parliamentarians regarding the Kotelawala Defense University Act.
Several members of the People’s Front as well as members of minority parties have expressed their views against the bill.
As such, the Prime Minister has informed the group that a committee will be appointed to discuss the bill further and the bill will not be tabled until its decision is reached.
Accordingly, the council meeting ended without a solution.
