Investigators suspect that the minor maid who was at the house of MP Rishad Bathiudeen was caught in the fire by using kerosene and that someone had applied kerosene to her.
Accordingly, investigations were being carried out to identify the person who had brought kerosene to the house.
If the person is identified, an investigation officer said that it would be very helpful to investigate the reason why the kerosene was brought home.
During the investigations, the mother-in-law of the MP had revealed that the kerosene had been imported by a driver working at home.
However, when questioned by the driver, he had told the officials that he had never brought kerosene to the minister’s house.
Investigators are also looking into who was the owner of the lighter found in the maid’s room and how it came to be near the maid’s pillow.
Another maid in the house had stated in her statement that she had never used kerosene or a lighter in the minister’s house.
