Tokyo Olympics 2020- ‘Unity through Emotions’.

The world’s greatest and most spectacular sporting event, the 32nd Olympic Games 2020 was begun with a grand opening ceremony at the Tokyo National Stadium in Japan on the 23rd at 8:30 pm under the theme ‘Unity through Emotions’.

The four-yearly event was scheduled to take place last year, but Olympic authorities had to postpone the 2020 Olympics by a year due to the global corona pandemic.

Japan, hosting the Olympic Games for the second time as Asia’s leader, has postponed the Olympics by a year, following strict health regulations.

Accordingly, the Tokyo Olympics organizers were able to mark the start of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics spectacularly, limiting it to 15 heads of state and a thousand distinguished guests.

More than 11,000 athletes from more than 200 countries are competing for medals in 469 sports in 339 events at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Judo athlete Chamara Dharmawardena and gymnast Milka de Silva proudly carried the Sri Lankan flag at the 2020 Olympic Opening Ceremony.
