Women who received both doses at the same time spoke to the media

The woman who faced the incident of giving both Moderna vaccines simultaneously in the Peradeniya area expressed her views to the media yesterday (22).

Priyanka Kumari, a 51-year-old mother of four from the Augustawatta area in Peradeniya had been given both doses of the Moderna vaccine at the same time during the vaccination drive held on July 20 at the Udaperadeniya Youth Corps Center.

She had gone with her husband to receive the vaccine, which was administered by a nurse at the Gangawata Korale Health Medical Officer’s Office.

Although she returned home later in the afternoon, she was admitted to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital again due to severe pain in her hand and fainting.

The health department has launched an investigation into the incident.

Accordingly, a report on the incident has been called from the office of the Gangawata Koralaya Medical Officer of Health, who was in charge of the vaccination, said Kandy Regional Health Services Director Dr Senaka Thalagala
