The Ministry of Health has given approval to a German company to obtain a construction permit for a biological sample collection center and a laboratory for PCR testing at the Katunayake Airport premises.
The proposal was made by the Ministry of Tourism. Nearly one and a half acres of land at the airport will be provided for the construction of the laboratory at a monthly rent of US $ 10,000.
The labs will charge a fee of US $ 40 per person to perform the test.
