Twenty to thirty per cent of the population in and around the Colombo metropolitan area is suspected to be infected with the Corona Delta variety, Health Ministry spokesman Dr Hemantha Herath said.

So far, most of the Delta infections have been found in Colombo residents.

He added that there may be a greater number of infected people in the community that have been identified.
