Maskeliya police say a 2-year-old boy has died after falling into a small pit dug in his garden.

The deceased has been identified as Jayadundaram Sulakshan, a resident of 50 acres, Maskeliya, Brunswick.

The father of the child said that, they searched for as the the child was not at home and then they saw the child had fallen into a small pit dug to dispose of the faeces in front of his house while searching for the child while giving a statement has been issued to the police.

The body of the deceased child has been placed at the Maskeliya morgue and the Maskeliya police are conducting investigations into the incident.
