Asela Sampath, the organizer of the Movement for the Defense of Public Rights, says he could have been killed if social media had not revealed his abduction.
He said it was the first time he had had a fatal experience and that he had been abducted by unarmed men without prior notice.
He said he had been abducted and he could have been arrested when he had previously gone to the CID.
He also said that his life today was saved due to the role played by his wife, children, lawyers and social media.
He said this while he was speaking to the media after being arrested by the CID and released on bail.
