Sri Lanka will have to import vegetables next December – Nimal Attanayake

The treasurer of the Manning Public Market Nimal Attanayake said that vegetable prices could go up further depending on the current situation.

Vegetable production has come down due to the shortage of fertilisers and the supply of vegetables will fall to less than 50 percent by next December, he said.

He added that if this continues, vegetables will have to be imported from abroad.

He said these while commenting on the current shortage of vegetables.
