Measures have been taken to relax the strict travel restrictions that were in effect across the country at 4 am this morning.
However, inter-provincial travel has been suspended and shop opening in the Western Province have been restricted with the public transport.
Minister of State Jayasumana stated that the Presidential Task Force which will meet this afternoon will decide whether or not the travel restrictions will be implemented in the future.
He further added that the current situation of the spread of the virus is being studied in depth.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of Health Services, Dr Asela Gunawardena stated that if there is an increase in the number of reported cases of corona infections, there will be severe travel restrictions in the future.
He said that as there are about 2,000 patients reported at present, travel restrictions should be strictly adhered to in the country.
