About 78 out of 100 PCR tests in the Mawanella area have been identified as infected,MP Kabir Hashim said.

He also alleged that a cluster of more than 700 infected people had been identified in the area.

However, the Divisional Secretary and the District Secretaries have not closed the area saying that they do not have the power to close the area.

The MP told parliament that there was a risk of further spread of the situation.
