Dr Hemantha Herath, Deputy Director-General of Health Services, Media Spokesman of the Ministry of Health stated that there is a tendency of the public to violate the current travel restrictions.

He also says that if the travel restrictions continue to be violated in this manner, there is nothing to do but extend the travel restrictions for another week or two.

However, he added that the number of newly emerging patients was lower than previously reported, but it was not possible to conclude just by looking at the numbers.
