According to Samani Jana Balawega MP Manusha Nanayakkara, Plaquenil is being used as an antiseptic for people infected with the coronavirus and Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama of the Colombo National Fever Hospital has also stated this, he said.

It is being used not as a treatment for coronavirus but as a drug to boost the immune system of infected people, he said.
