Sri Lanka is at risk of acid rain – Professor Ajith de Alwis

Sri Lanka is at risk of acid rain in the future due to the chemicals in the ship that caught fire in front of the Port of Colombo, Professor Ajith de Alwis of the Department of Chemistry and Activities at the University of Moratuwa said.

He points out that this fire has caused more damage to the aquatic environment of the country than the damage caused to the atmosphere.

This devastation will not go away in a few days and that it will have to suffer for years and it is a great tragedy that tons of small pieces of plastic are dumped into the ocean, he further said.

He made these comments in an interview with a youtube channel.
