The Cabinet has decided to terminate the contract of Olympus Construction Company, owned by Daya Gamage, a former Minister of Power and Energy, who delayed the construction of the second phase of the Central Expressway from Mirigama to Pothuhera, Highways Minister Johnston Fernando said.
Minister Johnston Fernando further stated that the decision was taken after discussions at the Cabinet meeting due to the continuous delays in the construction of the road section of the Olympus Contracting Company, even after the company had been warned on several occasions.
He further stated that this section of the expressway could not be vested in the public on the planned date due to delays in their construction, despite the funds being provided for the construction of the roads without any delay.
