Covid 19 pandemic present situation in Sri Lanka – Gampaha hospital system is near to collapses; 80% of patients came to OPD infected

Eighty percent of the corona tests performed on patients with the common cold at the Negombo General Hospital yesterday revealed that they were infected. The Government Medical Officers’ Association states that this is a very dangerous situation.

Due to this situation, there is a risk of an unexpected increase in the number of corona infections in the Gampaha District in the next two weeks, Secretary of the Association, Dr Shenal Fernando said.

Due to this dangerous situation, the hospital system in the Gampaha district is in a state of collapse and plans should be made immediately to avoid that situation he added.

He also pointed out that it is advisable to keep low-risk corona infected people in the district at home and keep them under medical supervision and the Director-General of Health Services has been informed about this dangerous situation.
