Coronavirus current situation in Sri Lanka -The country should be closed according to the medical opinions of medical authorities – Ranil Wickremesinghe

Former Prime Minister and Leader of the United National Party Ranil Wickremesinghe made the statement regarding coronavirus of coronavirus in Sri Lanka.

His statement is as follows,

The Covid pandemic is spreading rapidly in Sri Lanka, India and Nepal. In addition to the coronavirus, another fungal disease called Black Fungals is spreading in India.

We must protect the people of the country from all these diseases. The Colombo office of the World Health Organization (WHO) stated discussions with a number of our medical experts recently.

According to the announcement, they have predicted that the covid epidemic will spread rapidly in the country in the next few weeks.

We must remember one more thing. That is, there is a shortage of vaccines in our country. It may take some time between next year or the end of this year for all people to be vaccinated. Until then the people of the country should be protected.

Therefore, the government must take further steps by medical advice. If the doctors say to close the country, we have to do the same.

After that, we can take weekly reports and check the progress of the covid pandemic. I don’t know if there are other options besides that.

The continued spread of the covid epidemic is a fatal blow to the already weak economy. Therefore, it is necessary to stop the spread of existing diseases. If we do that we can minimize the economic damage.

I urge the government to save the lives of the people of this country. We can repair the damage to the economy. But we cannot repair the damage to life.

The government must protect the lives of the people. I urge you to save lives by making it the major objective.
