The Mullivaikkal monument was demolished.

Residents of the Mullivaikkal area in Mullaittivu witnessed that a group of people had demolished a war memorial on the beach yesterday morning (May 13). They had gone to clean the Mullivaikkal War Memorial this year to mark the 12th anniversary of the end of the war.

Then Mullaitivu Police have been informed about the incident. The lampposts at the Mulli Waikkal War Memorial had been severely damaged, residents said.

Although the Mullivaikkal war commemoration was not held this time due to the prevailing covid risk, they had seen this unfortunate incident had taken place while cleaning the place they further said.

They allied that law should be enforced immediately to find out the perpetrators of the act.
