“Kosgoda Tharaka” also known as Tharaka Wijesekera, a member of an organized crime gang who was in police custody, was shot dead during a clash with the police.
The shooting had taken place this morning while attempting to flee from police officers during an operation in the Mirigama area.
The suspect died after being admitted to the Mirigama Hospital. A police inspector who was injured in the incident has been admitted to the Wathupitiwala Hospital.
