The British B117 corona variant has further spread in the country.; Dr Chandanamali Punchihewa stated.

This variety has already been reported from Avissawella, Kuliyapitiya, Wadduwa, Ratmalana, Polgassovita etc., and this variety may have spread to other parts of the country as well; she further added.

She points out that this is a very dangerous situation and that the spread of this strain is very rapid and if so, even more, severe strains could occur in the future.
