Special three judge panel (Colombo High Court Trial-at-Bar) ordered to release former Minister Ravi Karunanayake and seven others today (April 1) who on bail who had been arrested and remanded over the third alleged bond scam amounting to Rs. 15 billion on March 31, 2016.
It is on a cash bail of Rs. 10 lakhs each and two personal bails of Rs. 100 lakhs each.The bench rejected the plaintiffs’ request to remand the accused in custody till the end of the trial. Also the High Court Trial-at-Bar imposed a travel ban on all eight accused.
The case was taken up today before a bench of Justices Amal Ranaraja, Namal Balalle and Aditya Patabendige.
