Police media spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that the policeman who had assaulted and jumped on a driver in Pannipitiya yesterday has been arrested today.

He further explained that He was interdicted yesterday over the inscident and he is attached to the Maharagama police.

Minister of Public Security Rear Admiral (Retired) (Dr.) Sarath Weerasekera had called for an investigation into the incident.

And the policeman will be produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court later today.(March 30)
