Some communication shops are charging a lot of money to prepare QR codes related to National Fuel Licence. Soms of them are taking money up to 200-250 rupees for that purpose. Long queues are also seen for this in some areas. However, in this regard, the communication owners claim that they have to charge such amount due to the increase in the price of raw materials including paper, printing ink and having to pay employee salaries.

Russia is ready to give fuel to Sri Lanka at a big discount – Wimal Weerawansa

Representatives of two Russian state-owned companies have come to this country and left after negotiating to supply fuel to Sri Lanka from Russia. Former minister Wimal Weerawansa, the leader of the National Freedom Front, said that the Russian company had prepared and signed memorandums of understanding for Sri Lanka.  He also mentioned that the company has been informed that the company is ready to lend $300 million worth of crude oil monthly if the Sri Lankan side agrees to this. The MP said that the money for this fuel should be paid for one year after the loan relief period and that the fuel will be provided at a lower price than the current price in the world market. However, the MP also mentioned that the officials of the legal department of the oil corporation have informed the Russian proposal that the relevant transactions cannot be carried out regardless of the legality of this company.

Krishna Srinivasan, director of the Asia and Pacific Department of the International Monetary Fund, says that Sri Lanka should start negotiations to restructure the debt of about 6.5 billion dollars owed to China. In an interview with Reuters, he says that China is a big creditor of Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka should actively engage with China for debt restructuring. Fuel crisis in Sri Lanka-Fuel Price will be reduced soon

Electricity and Energy Minister Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera said that there will be a reduction in fuel prices from the first of August. He said this while participating in a discussion on a television channel. “After this, every month on the night of the 1st and 15th, the price will definitely be revised on these two days. Thus, we have a price revision again for the first day. Then, within that price revision, with the price of the market, we can see that the price is decreasing. Mr Nuwan Bopage, a lawyer, states that there are plans to arrest hundreds of Galle face protesters. It’s for allegedly entering the presidential palace and damaging it. He also said that there is an attempt to detain the group in prisons until the court proceedings are completed under the Antiquities Act.
