Central bank of sri lanka issues new 20 rupee coin for its 70th anniversary.

Central bank of sri lanka issues a commemorative coin to mark its 70th anniversary and it is denominated as 20 rupees. The coin is seven lobed shape and made with bronze and aluminium. The first coin was officially presented to the President of sri lanka Gotabhaya Rajapaksha at presidential secretariat. Only 3000 coins added to the circulation as a limited issue. It is sold to 1300 rupees at the headquarters of the bank of sri lanka and its regional offices.

Dr. Anish Mahajan of Harbor from UCLA Medical Center states that screws and pins inserted in his foot and ankle during an emergency surgery as he had several open fractures on his lawer right leg. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation ( OIC)requested to halt forced cremations of Muslim Covid victims at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC ) yesterday. The secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Dr Yousef Al Othaimeen request to Sri lankan goverment to halt the forced cremation of Muslim Covid victims in Sri lanka. He made this request while he addressing the United Nations Human Rights Council yesterday. It wasHigh Level Segment of the 46th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. Dr. Yousef Al Othaimeen explained that OIC is aware of all the situations of Muslim communities even they aren’t members of the OIC. Also he further said that burial of Muslim Covid Victims can be done under the guidelines of the World Health Organization. Also he requested government to take action to this effect to respect the right of burial of the bodies of the Muslim Covid 19 victims.

Battaramulle Seelarathna Tera contest for the post of Vice President of the Sri Lanka Cricket

Venerable Battaramulle Seelarathna Tera submitted nominations to contest the SLC election, for the post of Vice President of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). Venerable Battaramulle Seelarathna Tera is representing the Wanni District of the Northern Province’s St. Anthony’s Sports Club. May 20th of this year (2021) sri lanka Cricket will elects new office bearers for coming two years. Official election for the office bearers will be held on May 07 at Duncan White Auditorium of the Ministry of Sports in Colombo from 10 am.

Eight foreign nationalities including Nigerians were arrested over a 1.7 milion rupees of online fraud

organized crime group of foreign nationals has been arrested by Kelaniya Divisional Crime Investigation Unit. A complaint loged at Peliyagoda police station yesterday lead to the whole investigations procedure. Eight people were arrested with six Nigerians with a sri lankan couple. They have found 79 SIM cards of different foreign countries,two computers and papers use to print fake money at the Lavenia house where all Nigerians were stayed. The scamers had claimed that the victim had won a prize online. Then they reprted to the victim to deposit money in order to receive the prize. This whole scamming was done by organised group using different SIM cards. Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana states that these type of online scammings and frauds happening in sri lanka these days.

Imran Khan visits Sri Lanka

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Sri Lanka today on an official 2-day State visit. Prime Minister Khan is visiting Sri Lanka on an invitation extended by Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa. Both the Sri Lanka and Pakistan Prime Ministers will together preside over an event to sign several mutually beneficial bilateral Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) today, following their official talks at the Temple Trees. During his visit, Prime Minister Imran Khan will attend bilateral meetings with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, while several other high-level engagements have also been planned, including a Business and Investment Forum, as well as a sports diplomacy initiative. Vehicle import ban to continues

Sri Lanka’s ban on vehicle imports will remain until the end of 2021, state minister of capital market Ajith Nivard Cabraal has said. He added that the decision to impose the import ban on vehicles will be reviewed by the end of this year. The government, in March 2020, decided to suspend the importation of vehicles, as an economic revival measure amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
