Food shortage in Sri Lanka-A person who was eating bread soaked in cold water dies

According to Elpitiya Police, a person has died after buying a piece of bread and eating it after soaking it in water. The police also said that a seventy-five-year-old resident of the area has died. When his body was found, pieces of the bread he was eating were lying around. The police said that the bread was eaten by soaking it in water and the body was handed over to Elpitiya Hospital for further investigations.
Burning of the Sri Lankan President’s house: Another suspect arrested

Another suspect has been arrested in Kottawa city for breaking into President Ranil Wickramasinghe’s private residence in Kollupitiya and setting it on fire on July 9, damaging and stealing property. The 33-year-old suspect, who has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department, is a resident of Aranayaka area. The suspect is scheduled to be produced in the Fort Magistrate’s Court today. The Criminal Investigation Department is conducting further investigations in this regard.

Proposals to waive Rs 680 million (excluding interest) due to farmers in default of payments to state banks. Proposals to establish a branch of Kotalawala Defense University in Kurunegala. Proposals to establish an Office for Sri Lankans Abroad which will act as a coordination center for getting the assistance of Sri Lankans to the country. Proposals for the use of private sector investment for the development of railway transport services and the development of the Kelaniveli railway line as the ideal project. Proposals to purchase only electric powered vehicles for government needs in the future and to suspend the use of fossil fuel powered vehicles in the future.

44 people who were suspected of trying to migrate illegally from Sri Lanka to foreign countries by sea were taken into custody by the Navy in special search operations carried out in the sea area off Trincomalee and in Batticaloa, Waleithottam beach area. The group was arrested in a special operation carried out by the Eastern Naval Command in the sea area off Trincomalee last night. The Navy has taken steps to hand over the arrested people and the vessels where they were staying to the police for further investigation.

The Minister stated this in a press conference held today regarding the restructuring of Sri Lankan Airlines. The minister said that the money received through that will be used to free Sri Lankan Airlines from as much debt as possible. The minister further stated that the total debt of Sri Lankan Airlines is 1.126 billion dollars which is 401 billion rupees.
