Covid 19 current situation in Sri Lanka – A baby born to covid 19 infected pregnant mother dies in Kotagala
A child born to a pregnant mother infected with Kovid has died in Greasweston Estate in Kotagala, Medical Officer said. He further stated that a woman at the Graceweston Estate in Talawakele had given birth at the Lidula Regional Hospital and the baby had died and the mother had been transferred to the Nuwara Eliya Base Hospital. The mother of the child was tested for Rapid Antigen and confirmed to be infected with Covid. Investigations are underway to find out about the associates of the mother and the associates found in this manner will subject to self-quarantine after P.C. R tests
Sri Lanka reported 45 covid 19 related deaths yesterday
Another 45 people infected with corona have died, the Government Information Department confirmed. Accordingly, the number of corona infected deaths reported so far in the country has risen to 2814.
Several Grama Niladhari Divisions have been isolated with immediate effects
Measures have been taken to isolate several Grama Niladhari Divisions with immediate effect from today. Army Commander Shavendra Silva stated that these steps were taken to control the current corona situation. The isolated areas as follows
Strict travel restrictions will be imposed
Measures have been taken to relax the strict travel restrictions that were in effect across the country at 4 am this morning. However, inter-provincial travel has been suspended and shop opening in the Western Province have been restricted with the public transport. Minister of State Jayasumana stated that the Presidential Task Force which will meet this afternoon will decide whether or not the travel restrictions will be implemented in the future. He further added that the current situation of the spread of the virus is being studied in depth. Meanwhile, the Director-General of Health Services, Dr Asela Gunawardena stated that if there is an increase in the number of reported cases of corona infections, there will be severe travel restrictions in the future. He said that as there are about 2,000 patients reported at present, travel restrictions should be strictly adhered to in the country.
Vasudeva Nanayakkara has been hospitalized.
Water Supply and Drainage Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara have been hospitalized. According to the media reports that he has been admitted to the hospital to receive treatment for a heart attack. He is commenting on the release of former parliamentarian Duminda Silva under a presidential pardon. Through pardoning a convicted felon who has been convicted of manslaughter She also notes that the rule of law has been underestimated. The note further states that this decision is contrary to the United Nations Charter of the Government of Sri Lanka, which treats everything fairly.
New corona cluster occur from Mawanella
About 78 out of 100 PCR tests in the Mawanella area have been identified as infected,MP Kabir Hashim said. He also alleged that a cluster of more than 700 infected people had been identified in the area. However, the Divisional Secretary and the District Secretaries have not closed the area saying that they do not have the power to close the area. The MP told parliament that there was a risk of further spread of the situation.

The martial art Angampora will be uplift as a sport – Namal Rajapaksa
Namal Rajapaksa, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs states that he hopes to uplift the martial art of Angampora as a sport and promote it throughout the country and the world. He also says that the ‘Angampora’ martial art of the country has been secretly active since it was banned during the colonial period. He has stated this in a post on his social media account after a discussion with local Angampora artists.
Basil Rajapaksa has returned to Sri Lanka.
The National Organizer of the Sri Lanka People’s Front, former Minister Basil Rajapaksahas returned to Sri Lanka. He has been on a private visit to the United States for more than a month. Several backbenchers of the Sri Lanka People’s Front have stated that they will discuss the reduction of fuel prices which has been increased with his arrival in the country. Several parliamentarians have publicly stated that fuel prices would not have been increased if Basil Rajapaksa had been in the country.
