The Panadura North Police has arrested a person with a bag of ammunition containing thirty  ammunition which they said was picked up while there was the Galle Face protest site. This person is a 35-year-old mason. The police say that he was arrested after he came to the police with the bullet-laden bag. It has been revealed to the police during questioning that he went to the Galle Face protest area on the 9th of July and brought the ammunition bag that had fallen on the ground to his house.

Economic Crisis in Sri Lanka-Price of a bread will increase to 350 rupees

The All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association states that the price of flour will rise again in a few days.  If wheat flour becomes 420 rupees per kilo, a loaf of bread will go up to 320 rupees and if flour goes up to 450 rupees, a loaf of bread will go up to 350 rupees, he said. They further point out that due to the shortage of flour in the country, the price of bakery products will not rise.

A husbund killed his wife by cutting her throat with a sharp weapon

The Dambulla police say that a woman was killed by cutting her throat with a sharp weapon in a house in Titavelgol Kottawela area of ​​Dambulla police domain last night. .. The All Ceylon Restaurant Owners Association says that even though the price of gas is low today, the price of food in restaurants cannot be lowered. Mr. Asela Sampath, president of the association, said that due to the black market mafia, the prices of goods are not reduced and therefore consumers are suffering.  He also mentioned that flour importers in Sri Lanka are stockpiling flour and releasing it at higher prices through the black market. He further said that although the price of gas is low, the price of food has not been reduced or increased.

Inflation in Sri Lanka-A mobile app for 5000 rupee for law income people in Sri Lanka

The government is preparing to start a new welfare program (package) in which 43 lakh low-income families and individual units of the country, including Samurdhi beneficiaries, will be registered through a telephone application and given 5000 rupees each monthly. Until now, due to the political pressure caused by the selection of the deserving by the government officials, the World Bank together with the Central Bank has planned to directly select the individuals and families who are suffering from poverty. The support for this program is provided by the World Bank as per the recommendation of the International Monetary Fund that another protection program should be implemented for the people who are suffering due to the economic crisis in the country. Accordingly, in addition to the 17 lakh community who are currently receiving the Samurdhi benefit, individuals and families who are expecting the Samurdhi subsidy, the elderly, kidney patients and the disabled are also included in this new relief package. In addition to this, another 600,000 families and individuals identified as impoverished due to the current economic crisis will also benefit. The government has planned to implement this subsidy package for a period of two years in the initial phase. Commenting on this subsidy package, a Finance Ministry official said, “One of the accusations made by the Financial Fund is that there has been no transparency in the distribution of subsidies in the country so far. Therefore, in this new program we are introducing a mobile app.”
