Around 7003 infected people in Gampaha are not in hospitals and officials dont have proper information where they are staying

Around 7003 people in the Gampaha Districtwho were diagnosed with corona infection have not been hospitalized. It was revealed at the District Corona Suppression Committee meeting. The District Director of Health Services stated that officials not known their homes or where they were the infected persons werestaying.  He added that steps are being taken to hospitalize the group and find out if they are showing any symptoms.

He said that 1470 bodies have been buried in the Ottamawadi cemetery so far and 1383 of them belong to Muslims and the rest to other nationalities.

5-7 corona related deaths daily at Kalubowila Hospital- Dr. Sagari Kiriwandeniya

The Director of the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Dr. Sagari Kiriwandeniya states that 5-7 corona infected patients die daily. She also said that arrangements have been made since last week to send the corona infected people admitted to the hospital home after a medical examination. She said that although the general surgery was stopped at the hospital due to the emergency situation, the emergency surgery will continue. About 24% of the patients admitted to the hospital need oxygen, and out of the 34 wards in the hospital, six wards are reserved for corona patients, she said.

A women died inside a Horana – Panadura bus

A woman traveling in a bus from Horana to Panadura has died in the same seat, Panadura South Police said. The bus was taken to the Panadura Hospital after the conductor who was skeptical of how the woman was sleeping in the seat, became suspicious took a closer look. Police say they have not received any information about the woman, who is believed to be between 60 and 65 years old.

Officials threatened to show corona deaths in homes as ordinary deaths

The Negombo Grama Niladhari Association says that some Grama Niladharis have decided to resign from their profession as they are under various threats and pressures to recognise covid 19 related deaths that happened in houses as normal deaths.  “This influence is an offense under criminal law. Although it is up to the Grama Niladharis to make an independent decision on a death, such pressure can lead to suspicion of that death. It is unfortunate that there are medical professionals among influencers. ” The Secretary of the Association said.
