Sri Lanka has requested the United Arab Emirates to provide a relief plan for the supply of oil to Sri Lanka. External Affairs Minister GL Peiris Mr. Peiris has made this request to the Minister of Advanced Technology of the United Arab Emirates. He made the request during a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The Foreign Minister made this request while explaining the challenges currently facing Sri Lanka due to the Corona expansion. The Minister said that he was happy to assist the United Arab Emirates in this request and also proposed the establishment of a strategic framework to take it forward.

Corona vaccine will have to be given to certain groups every year in the future- Professor Neelika Malavige

According to Professor Neelika Malavige of the Department of Molecular Biology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, the vaccine aims to make the corona distribution a common cold.  She said that the Delta variety has become the most prevalent variety in the world and all other varieties have dropped by as much as one per cent. The European Union is ready to provide any assistance to organic farming in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka’s Representative to the European Union Jenny Correia Nunes told Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage that she was ready to provide any assistance needed for organic farming in Sri Lanka. They further point out that about 40 to 50 importers have been stockpiling goods for several months and have even had to pay late fees due to delays in their release.
