UK approved a capsule for covid infected people
The UK Drug Regulatory Authority has decided to approve a capsule for the first time for covid patients. The drug was named ‘molnupiravir’ and was approved for use in people diagnosed with Covid infection. It is recommended to give the capsule twice a day to an infected person.
Two more T20 matches today
The match between New Zealand and Namibia and the match between India and Scotland in the 20-20 Cricket World Cup will be played today (05). Sri Lanka won the match
Sri Lanka beat West Indies by 12 runs in the Super 12 round of the T20 World Cup yesterday (04). Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 189 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. Charith Asalanka scored 68 runs while Pathum Nissanka scored 51 runs for Sri Lanka. In reply, West Indies were bowled out for 169 in 20 overs for the loss of eight wickets. Nicholas Pooran scored 46 and Shimron Hetmeyer 81 not out for the West Indies. Binura Fernando, Wanindu Hasaranga and Chamika Karunaratne took two wickets each for Sri Lanka.
New coach of the Indian cricket team
Former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the new head coach of the Indian cricket team. He will take over the post after the current 20/20 World Cup Cricket Tournament. Rahul Dravid has been the head coach for two years and will take over on November 17. Announcing the appointment, he said he was pleased to be the head coach. Ravi Shastri was previously the head coach of the Indian team.

Minister of State for Corona control Sudarshani Fernandopulle said that there was an increase in the number of corona infections in some districts. She added that the growing situation could not be underestimated and that the number of infected people could not be prevented from rising further if people did not adhere to basic health laws. Currently, the number of reported cases is around 500, but if health laws are not followed, that number could soon exceed 1,500, she said. LTTE tried to break into President’s Hotel

The luxury car driven by the 16 year old was in a fatal accident
A person was killed in a road accident near the Welisara Cemetery this morning (04). Three others who were injured in the accident have been admitted to the Ragama Teaching Hospital. The accident took place near the Welisara cemetery on the Colombo-Negombo main road at around 9 today morning. A luxury car traveling from Colombo to Negombo veered off the road and collided with two motorcycles, a three wheeler and a car traveling in the opposite direction. Mahabage police stated that the driver of the luxury car was a 16 year old youth. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accident occurred due to the inability to control the speed. The motorcyclist was killed in the accident and the rear rider was admitted to the Ragama Teaching Hospital with serious injuries.
