A 10-year-old boy died due to extremist religious belief

Police Media Spokesman Nihal Thalduwa stated that the investigation into the mysterious death of a child and the occult has revealed several surprising facts regarding occult beliefs. Neighbours have complained about the police after a house in the Adimulla area in the Badalgama police division smelled a suspicious stench. Based on the information received, a police investigation has been launched yesterday (09) and the body of a 10-year-old boy was found lying on a bed in a room in the house. When inquired by the residents, the parents of the child said that the child who had been suffering from a sore throat on the 7th had informed that he had undergone a prayer treatment and had not been referred for any medical treatment and the child had died during the prayers. But even then, the parents, who believed that the child could be cured through prayer, kept praying while keeping the child’s body at home. The parents kept the child in a room and prayed religiously until he recovered, and in the meanwhile, the child body started to rotton away.  The boy’s mother, father and grandmother were all involved in the process, and it was reported that they were members of some extremist sect and were blind believers in all activities. The mother, father and grandmother have been arrested by the police. The Negombo Magistrate’s Court has reported the incident and the inquest is underway. Badalgama Police are conducting further investigations.

Husbund killed police sergeant wife after seting her on fire

A police sergeant has died after being hospitalized with serious injuries after her husband set her on fire with petrol. The deceased has been identified as a police sergeant in the Gonapinuwala area in Balapitiya.  The suspect’s husband has retired from the army and is working as a fisherman.  After an argument between them, the husband beat her and threw a bottle of petrol on her uniform and set it on fire. The arrested husband has been remanded.

The European Union (EU) has called on the Sri Lankan government to lift restrictions on the import of goods into Sri Lanka.  They point out that many European products have been barred from entering the Sri Lankan market due to the import ban. The request was made during a discussion between representatives of the association and representatives of the Government of Sri Lanka. The Government of Sri Lanka has taken steps to impose an import ban on non-essential goods due to the shortage of foreign exchange in the country. The European Union (EU) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) have previously expressed dissatisfaction with Sri Lanka’s import ban on trade, saying that trade is an exchange between two parties, not just one ‘s purchases.

The statement made by Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella that Sri Lanka ranks 4th in the world in terms of corona vaccination is untrue, reports the Daily Mirror quoting FactCheck. Although the Minister’s statement reveals that Sri Lanka belongs to the top four countries out of 194 countries in terms of vaccination, the ‘Fact Check’ investigation reveals that such a statement is untrue. They point out that Sri Lanka has the 57th highest number of vaccinated countries in the world. Sri Lanka has been fully vaccinated with 64.41% of the total population and Brunei ranks first in vaccination with 90.75% of the total population fully vaccinated.  The state of Brunei has also vaccinated the largest percentage of people over the age of 16. Its percentage is 116.83%.

Sri lankan government is going to regulate Tik Tok?

The time has come to regulate social media, says Labor Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva. He also said that the cultural, national and social catastrophes caused by social media today should be taken into consideration. He said that today there is a social network called Tik Tok and the government should pay attention to the disasters that have occurred on social media in this manner. However, he did not say that social media should be banned and that a program should be formulated to regulate this. Heavy traffic after the protest of health workers

Heavy traffic has been reported in the Colombo City Hall area.  This is due to a protest by health workers’ unions demanding higher wages. Due to this, the police are requesting drivers to use alternative routes as much as possible Health workers are protesting for three continuous days  requesting solutions for wage issue.

Businessman arrested for raping a German girl

A 28-year-old businessman has been arrested for allegedly intoxicating and abusing a 32-year-old German woman at a hotel in Kollupitiya. The 32-year-old German woman is due to be presented to a doctor and receive a report. Police investigations have revealed that the suspect businessman has been a friend of the German girl for about six years. Police say that the father of the German girl is a former naval officer who is a Sri Lankan and the mother is a German woman. She arrived in Sri Lanka on December 18 and stayed at a relative’s house in Tangalle. It was also reported that the woman had been staying with a businessman in a hotel in the Kandy area for about two weeks.  The girl, who was scheduled to leave the country on the 6th, had arrived at a hotel in the Kollupitiya area on the 4th with the businessman and the two had gone to a nightclub that day and stayed there until 4 the next morning. Police investigations have revealed that she had consumed vodka and the youth had also consumed alcohol. The girl’s credit card was lost and the suspect businessman had an argument between the two over not taking it into account, police said, adding that the girl had returned to the hotel in the Kollupitiya area where she was staying a wagon. The girl had felt some discomfort after arriving at the hotel and unknowingly identified her on examination that she had been raped. She suspects that she was raped after mixing with something to drink vodka while staying at the hotel. The girl is to be presented to a doctor and reported to testify about the rape. . Her complaint further states that when she woke up, she had only her underwear and the other clothes were in the bathroom.

Argentina join the China’s Belt and Road program

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Beijing on Sunday for Argentina to join China’s Belt and Road program.  According to foreign media reports, the signing took place between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Argentine President Alberto Fernandez. . The Argentine President is currently on a visit to China. Simultaneously, the signing of these agreements was organized. Accordingly, Argentina has become one of the leading economies in the South American continent, joining China’s trillions of dollars in global infrastructure development projects.

The Navy has taken steps to auction off 135 vessels belonging to Indian fishermen arrested while fishing in the North Sea at the Karainagar fishing harbor in Jaffna.  The auction of Indian fishing vessels was attended by fishermen from Jaffna as well as customers from various parts of the island and the government earned Rs. 52,20,500 from the fishing vessel auction. The 48-foot-long Indian fishing vessel that was auctioned was the highest bidder at Rs. 1.3 million. However, 155 Indian fishing vessels and 3 Sri Lankan fishing vessels were in the custody of the Navy and the Navy has taken steps to auction all the remaining vessels in the coming days.
