Special announcement regarding vehicles not allowed to cross the new Kelani Bridge

A new formal traffic road plan has been released for the roads associated with the newly opened Kelani Bridge.

The Director General of the Road Development Authority LVS Weerakoon said at a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday (30) that this road plan will be introduced to reduce the inconvenience caused to motorists by not being able to identify roads and the associated traffic congestion

Only vehicles allowed on the expressways will be allowed to cross the new Kelani Bridge.  Due to the ongoing construction work on the port access road, only licensed vehicles are allowed to cross the port at present. Other vehicles coming towards Colombo should not turn left at Sirimavo Bandaranaike Mawatha and turn left or right without entering the port entrance. Container vehicles coming from the port will not be allowed to cross the new Kelani Bridge.

All other vehicles, including containers, not allowed on the new Kelani Bridge can use the Baseline Line below the bridge and use the lane outside the bridge.
