A man has been arrested by STF intelligence officers with the explosives illegally stored.

A 39-year-old man was arrested yesterday (09) on a tip off received by the STF at two locations in Mirigama with the explosives illegally stored without a license.

Further questioning of the arrested suspect revealed that he had obtained the explosives and sold them to other parties for money by presenting false information.

Among the explosives seized were 81 sticks of water gel weighing about 130 grams, 75 kilograms of ammonia nitrate, 107 non-electric detonators and 360 meters of service thread, the STF said.

The Mirigama Police are conducting further investigations.
