There is a huge shortage of fertilizer in the country at present, the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara said.

He says that the public cannot make fertilizer from using body strength and that the situation inside the village is very deplorable than what the politicians and officials in Colombo said.

He added that chemical fertilizers should have been phased out as the country gradually increased its production of organic fertilizer.

He said these while responding to a question from the media.
