The Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) has asked President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to extend his travel restrictions for another week to control the increase in the number of covid patients.
The President of the Association, Dr Padma Gunaratne said in the letter to the President that the disease has been brought under control to some extent through the imposition of travel restrictions and that there is a serious risk of the country being reopened in the current situation. If so, there is a danger of the health system collapsing if the country reopened.
However, a final decision will be taken at the covid Task Force meeting chaired by the President on Friday (11th June), the Presidential Secretariat said.
