The importers of chemical fertilizers met the Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage at the Ministry of Agriculture yesterday.

The importers agreed to import organic fertilizer until the country produces the required organic fertilizer.

The Minister emphasized that there is no permission for the importation of toxic pesticides, chemical fertilizers and agro-chemicals.

The Minister requested the fertilizer importers to extend all possible assistance to make Sri Lanka an organic home garden in the world and to promote sri lankan traditional farming.

Minister of State Mohan de Silva, Secretary to the Ministry and a number of officials were present on the occasion.
