A rapid increase in breast cancer cases in the past two decades

12 cases of breast cancer are reported in the country, everyday says the National Cancer Control Program.

Its specialist, Mrs. Hazareli Fernando, stated that the past two decades have shown a rapid increase in the number of breast cancer patients in Sri Lanka. Breast Cancer Awareness Month started yesterday (01).

Based on that, steps will be taken to raise awareness about breast cancer at the local level and to refer diagnosed patients for treatment.
