A forty-one-year-old welder by profession has been arrested by the Kurunegala Wellawa Police. On the 9th, he participated in a protest with two friends and entered the presidential palace and drank a bottle of beer there with two friends. The police also claim that the beer glass used to drink the beer has been taken home to keep as a souvenir.

A person has died from a gunshot
A person has died from a gunshot in the Rathgama area. Police said two unidentified men came on a motorcycle and fired with a T56 type firearm and fled. A 45-year-old resident of Rathgama, Devenigoda has died due to gunshot wounds. Two other people were injured in the incident and they are currently receiving treatment at Karapitiya Hospital. Police said that further investigations are underway regarding the shooting.
