A person died in a shooting last night (30) at Vivekananda Kanda Road, Coastal Police Domain, Colombo. The police said that the shooting was done by two unknown persons who came on a motorcycle and fled. The police say that the person injured in the shooting died on admission to the National Hospital. A 51-year-old resident of the Kotahena area has been murdered. The body has now been deposited at the Colombo National Hospital. The reason for the shooting has not yet been revealed. The Ministry of Public Security says that legal action will be taken against the people who stay illegally in the Galle face area. Its secretary Mr S . Hettiarachchi mentioned that legal action will be taken against them under the charges of unauthorized construction and unauthorized stay on the respective lands owned by the Urban Development Authority, Port Authority and other government agencies. The announcement issued by the Ministry of Finance states that the government is obliged to work in good faith with its creditors to establish a comprehensive debt restructuring program that achieves fair and sustainable results for all stakeholders. Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador Hee Sen Hong says that since China is also a member of the International Monetary Fund, China hopes that Sri Lanka’s negotiations with the International Monetary Fund will be successful. The Chinese ambassador assured us that necessary support will be provided at the IMF board meeting. These comments were expressed during the meeting between Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and the Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mr Hee Sen Hong at the Prime Minister’s Office.
