A foreign couple who came to spend their honeymoon in court for taking drone photos

 An Indian couple has been fined Rs. 50,000 for pleading guilty to operating a drone illegally to obtain footage of the Weligama beach.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala  imposed the fine. The couple had arrived in Sri Lanka for their honeymoon, during which time they launched a drone off the coast of Weligama and took photos and videos of themselves.

The couple was arrested by the Weligama Police on charges of operating an unauthorized drone off the coast of Weligama.

 They were produced in court by the police on charges of violating the Civil Aviation Act.
