Broker arrested for sending woman to domestic service

It is reported that a woman from the Kandy area has been sent to Dubai to work as a housemaid on a tourist visa without registering with the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment.

According to the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment, she was assaulted and pushed to the ground on the second floor of the building after she arrived at the Foreign Employment Agency due to a problem at work.

When the woman arrived at the agency’s foreign employment agency, a woman named “Sama” who worked there beat her, forcing her to go back to work at the house and pushing her down from the second floor after she refused.

The bones in her arms and legs were broken when she fell to the ground. She is currently in the island and is in a critical condition.

A complaint has been lodged with the Kandy Provincial Office of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment and investigations are underway by the Special Investigation Division at the Head Office.

Accordingly, the broker who had smuggled the woman abroad was arrested in the Gampola area and produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court. He was released on a cash bail of Rs. 5,000 and a personal bail of Rs. 500,000.
