It has been revealed that the gas in the ship which brought a consignment of gas to Litro was not up to the required standard. It is reported that the decision regarding the landing of the gas will be taken at the technical committee meeting today.
The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) had earlier stated that a decision would be taken today (14) as to whether the gas on board the ship anchored in the Colombo harbour would land in Sri Lanka.
The gas vessel arrived at the Port of Colombo recently and the relevant sections have tested the gas in it. However, it has been reported that its “propane and butane” composition is up to standard, but it is not yet known whether the mercaptan composition used to detect the odour of gases is up to par.
The Authority further stated that permission will not be granted if there is a slight or slight change in the composition of the gases present on the ship.
