The United States imposed travel restrictions against two Sri Lankan security forces personnel

 

The United States has imposed a travel ban on two members of the Sri Lankan security forces on human rights abuses. US Secretary of State Anthony. J. Blinken said this in a statement.

US Secretary of State Anthony. J. Blinken said in a statement that the travel ban would apply to Navy intelligence officer Chandana Hettiarachchi and former Army sergeant Sunil Ratnayake.

The U.S. State Department has announced that it will confine itself to Naval Officer Chandana Hettiarachchi in connection with the 2008-2009 massacre of 11 youths in Trincomalee and to former Army Sergeant Sunil Ratnayake in connection with the killing of eight civilians in 2000.

The statement added that the United States has taken steps to protect human rights.
