A viral disease which cause children born with cerebral palsy in India

The state of Uttar Pradesh in India is the most populous state in the country. So far, 89 people have been diagnosed with the Sika virus in one district of the state.

Among them were 17 children. The first case of the virus in India was reported in 2017 in the state of Gujarat.

Mosquito-borne diseases are contracted by pregnant mothers, causing the brain of newborns to contract and develop a rare condition called Guillain-Barre syndrome, which weakens the immune system.

The virus has been identified as sexually transmitted. This is the first case of the virus in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The first case of the disease was reported in Kanpur on October 23.
