Chinese fertilizer ship reaches Beruwala waters

The ship “HIPPO SPIRIT” carrying a consignment of Chinese organic fertilizer which was rejected due to the presence of harmful bacteria is currently anchored at the Kalutara-Beruwala sea border, the Marine Traffic website reports that.

Harbor Master Captain Nirmal de Silva,  stated that he had not been informed that the ship was coming to the Port of Colombo.

He added that although the ship could reach the port of Colombo to obtain the required supplies, there was no room for the consignment of organic fertilizer to land at the port.

Meanwhile, Minister of State Dayasiri Jayasekara says that such a crisis has arisen about the rejected Chinese organic fertilizer due to a problem that arose during the preparation of the agreement.
