Samagi Jana Balawega MP Champika Ranawaka says that Sri Lanka will have to face a severe energy crisis like currently in Lebanon by next January.
He also said that the Sri Lankan government should pay serious attention to this matter. He also points out that the country’s economic crisis is gradually turning into an energy crisis..
He further stated that no applicant has come forward for the five tenders opened by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation to purchase crude oil. Therefore, the refinery will have to close down in the future.
Due to this situation, there will be no fuel from November and due to the generation of electricity from the oil refinery, there will be a power cut due to the loss of electricity, he said.
