PCR and rapid antigen testing to diagnose corona infections is limited with a new circular – The Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Association

The Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Association says PCR and rapid antigen testing to diagnose corona infections is limited.

Its chairman Upul Rohana points out that due to this, the spread of corona cannot be assessed by the society based on the daily reported number of infections.

He also said that the Director General of Health Services has issued a circular restricting the testing of people with symptoms and first class affiliations.

Accordingly, the tests are being carried out only for a very limited number of people, he said, adding that there may be several times as many infections in the general society as reported.

Accordingly, he said, official statistics alone could not provide a proper estimate of the spread of the corona pandemic.
