Commissioner General of Essential Services Major General NDSP Mr Nivunhella has examined 04 main rice mills in Polonnaruwa yesterday.

The Nipuna, Araliya, Lath Rice and New Ratna rice mills were inspected and the Consumer Affairs Authority has obtained a report on the stocks of rice owned by those rice mills.

The owners of the rice mills later agreed to submit a report on the wholesale and wholesale prices of rice issued by rice mill owners to the Consumer Affairs Authority and publish the prices to the public

The owners of the rice mills also stated that they will convert their stocks of paddy into the rice as soon as possible and continue to supply it to the market at the controlled prices set by the government.

Maj. Gen. Shantha Dissanayake, Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority and several officials were present at the occasion.
