The Archbishop says no to the requested discussion by Prof. GL Peiris

Prime Minister Malcolm Ranjith has conveyed to the Prime Minister, Colombo, that he must have faith in the transparency of the investigation into the Easter attack if he is to accept the invitation of the Minister of External Affairs, Prof. GL Peiris, to come to a discussion on the steps taken by the Government in connection with the investigations into the Easter Sunday terrorist attack.

 Catholic Church media spokesman Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando said that The Cardinal has made it clear in a letter to the Minister that They are open to such discussions but certain conditions must be met and will not come into the discussion until those conditions are met.

Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando said that the Cardinal has informed the Minister in his letter the importance of credible investigations into the Easter attack, in order to build that confidence, the implementation of the recommendations made in the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter Attack must begin.

Father Cyril Gamini said this in a special statement to the media.
