An elderly mother is brought to the weekly market and abandoned

The Nuwara Eliya Police have commenced an investigation in searching caretakers of a 75-year-old mother who was abandoned after being taken to a weekly market adjacent to the Nuwaraeliya police station on the 31st.

Residents around the “Sathi Pola” area say that the mother was taken to the Sathi Pola grounds on the afternoon of the 30th and abandoned.

The mother, who did not say anything about her caretakers, told police that she was in the Magastota area in Nuwara Eliya and another time was residing in Labukele, Nuwara Eliya.

The Nuwara Eliya Police have commenced an investigation on the 31st of last month after receiving information from the residents of the area that there was an elderly mother without a guardian at the Nuwara Eliya Sathi Pola premises from the afternoon of the 30th.

A special team of the Nuwara Eliya Police has commenced investigations into the mother who did not confirm her identity.
